Description:
NEO Beam
Alliance Ltd is a limited-liability company established as a result
of an industry-academia partnership composed of Kent State
University and Mercury Plastics Inc. NEO Beam is offering several internships this summer (2006). These
internships will provide an opportunity for student involvement in
both production and exploratory science R&D activities.
As part of this program the interns will be expected to learn
about the effects of ionizing radiation and assist with various
projects for the Program on Electron Beam Technology.
NEO Beam houses a
powerful industrial electron accelerator (5 MeV, 150 kW), and two
major material handling systems: a cart-conveyor, and a reel-to-reel
system. The former is
used to process product individually or in boxes, and the second one
to process tubing, cable, or wire. Additionally, we have a small sample handling system (linear
motion system) that is
used for R&D activities. We
also have one of world’s best dosimetry laboratories and a polymer testing laboratory at NEO
Beam.
