Welcome
to the educational section of the Program on Electron Beam Technology.
Within this section of the Website, you can access different parts
of the degree programs, look at class schedules, and course descriptions.
Education is an important part of the Electron Beam Technology program.
The field is relatively new, and an exciting part of technological
innovation. The prospects are seemingly endless, and each day new
advancements in the field are discovered.
Kent
State University, presently offers an undergraduate
certificate program and an associative
degree on Radiation Polymer Engineering Technology, through
the School of Technology. Upper division undergraduate as well as
graduate course work are presently being developed to allow the
university to offer a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Technology,
as well as a Master of Technology (M.T.) degree, with specialization
in electron beam technology and its applications.
Kent
State University wants to develop the interest of, and access to,
this technology (Electron Beam Technology) by students and faculty
in secondary schools. Workshops are being offered for teachers in
certain tech-prep programs. Teachers in these programs are always
invited to return, with their students, for a visit to the NEO Beam
facility. It is expected that in the longer term, field trips from
surrounding high schools will take place on a regular basis.
Kent
State University is also interested in promoting the use of the
NEO Beam facility by students and faculty from other institutions
of higher education through the state in general, and in Northeast
Ohio in particular. Exploratory conversations have already been
helped with representatives from various local universities.
