Undergraduate Certificate Program

Purpose: The certificate program will provide the student with a comprehensive background in the radiation processing of polymers.  The knowledge gained can immediately applied in industry.  The focus of this program is the development of hands-on skills with sufficient theoretical background to apply the latter successfully.  This program is not a substitute for the Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, but rather a supplement to it for either the student returning to update an existing degree or the one presently pursuing a degree.

Admissions:
Kent State University Admissions requirements apply, including assessment testing.  Students may enroll in the program if they have prior degrees.  Students must declare themselves as a certificate candidate prior to completing half of the courses, and must complete a minimum of 15 hours at Kent State University.

Prerequisites:  Students must satisfy the prerequisites of all the courses in the program by either completing the prerequisite course or by demonstrating to an appropriate faculty member that they have otherwise satisfied the prerequisite.

Graduation:  Students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in all courses to receive the certificate.  Courses may not be completed on a pass-fail basis nor by credit-by-examination.  Transfer credits may be used provided they have letter grades on transcripts and are included in the declaration rule above.
